Uncharted 4 Avx2 Fix !!hot!! Jun 2026
Modern game engines utilize AVX2 to optimize heavy computational tasks like physics calculations, complex artificial intelligence, and real-time audio processing. Why Uncharted 4 Crashes on Older CPUs
When Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (which includes Uncharted 4: A Thief's End ) launched on PC, many players with older processors ran into a major roadblock: the game completely refused to launch, crashing straight to the desktop. This issue happens because the game engine strictly requires the Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (AVX2) instruction set.
AVX2 is an extension to the x86 instruction set architecture for microprocessors from Intel and AMD. Introduced in 2013 with Intel's Haswell architecture and in 2015 with AMD's Carrizo architecture, AVX2 expands vector processing capabilities, allowing the CPU to execute more data commands per clock cycle.

The culprit was a single, missing line of modern architecture: AVX2 (Advanced Vector Extensions 2).
