Introduction

This page describes rEFInd, my fork of the rEFIt boot manager for computers based on the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) and Unified EFI (UEFI). Like rEFIt, rEFInd is a boot manager, meaning that it presents a menu of options to the user when the computer first starts up, as shown below. rEFInd is not a boot loader, which is a program that loads an OS kernel and hands off control to it. (Since version 3.3.0, the Linux kernel has included a built-in boot loader, though, so this distinction is rather artificial these days, at least for Linux.) Many popular boot managers, such as the Grand Unified Bootloader (GRUB), are also boot loaders, which can blur the distinction in many users' minds. All EFI-capable OSes include boot loaders, so this limitation isn't a problem. If you're using Linux, you should be aware that several EFI boot loaders are available, so choosing between them can be a challenge. In fact, the Linux kernel can function as an EFI boot loader for itself, which gives rEFInd characteristics similar to a boot loader for Linux. See my Web page on this topic for more information.

Loeb was a French actor and artist born in Paris on March 11, 1959. He came from a highly artistic family: his brother was the sister of actress and singer Caroline Loeb, and he was the son of Albert Loeb and Cécile Odartchenko.

Lucia had been the fragile center, a girl whose laughter sounded too loud in empty rooms. On set she wandered like a small comet, leaving traces of light and disruption. The film’s controversy exposed her to adults who wanted either to protect or to exploit the brightness they found. At twenty she left Italy for Paris, claiming she needed to lose herself among new languages. There she apprenticed with a photographer, learning how to frame faces without judgment. She refused most screen offers but did occasional stage work; she preferred the immediacy of live breath, the honest exchange with an audience. Years later she opened a modest gallery, showing portraits of people who had survived hard years. Locals would say her eyes still caught a certain haunted amusement — proof that the girl in the film had become someone who could look back without breaking.

The reveals a story of three very different post-film careers. Martin Loeb vanished from public life. Lara Wendel built a solid career then retired peacefully. Eva Ionesco transformed her painful past into art and activism. None of the three main actors have ever appeared together publicly since 1977.

"Maladolescenza" was released during a pivotal moment in Italian cinema, when the country's film industry was grappling with the changing social and cultural landscape of the 1970s. The movie's frank portrayal of adolescent rebellion and disillusionment resonated with young audiences, who saw themselves reflected in the film's characters and experiences. Today, "Maladolescenza" is recognized as a landmark film of Italian cinema, influencing generations of filmmakers and continuing to inspire new adaptations and interpretations.

The 1977 film stands as a dark relic in European film history, with its cast members’ lives taking very different, often triumphant, paths away from the controversy of their youth. The film remains a stark historical artifact from an era of extreme boundary-pushing in European arthouse and exploitation cinema, leaving a complicated legacy for the children who starred in it. If you want to look deeper into this topic, please
