Antoine Richis, played by the legendary Alan Rickman, desperate to save his daughter, flees with her to a seaside inn. But Grenouille’s sense of smell cannot be fooled. He tracks them, murders Laure in her sleep, and captures her scent. He is caught and sentenced to a brutal public execution: being broken on the wheel. Yet, on the day of his execution, Grenouille reveals his true power. He dabs his magical perfume on his skin. As the crowd and the executioner breathe in the scent, they are overcome with an ecstatic, rapturous emotion.
