You do not need to torture yourself with broken 200MB files. You have better options in 2025:

Decompressing highly compressed archives on mobile devices or weak computers requires massive CPU power, leading to prolonged extraction times before you can even launch the game. Security Risks of "Highly Compressed" Downloads

In the pantheon of action-adventure gaming, God of War 2 (2007) for the PlayStation 2 stands as a titan—a game celebrated for its colossal boss battles, intricate level design, and cinematic scope that pushed Sony’s aging hardware to its absolute limit. The original dual-layer DVD required nearly 8 GB of storage. Yet, for a significant portion of the gaming world, the definitive experience of Kratos’s revenge is not the retail disc but a heavily compressed anomaly: the 200 MB RIP version. This tiny executable file, shared across cyber cafes, torrent sites, and USB sticks in developing nations, represents a fascinating paradox. It is both a degradation and a preservation, a testament to the enduring power of game design over graphical fidelity.

The game's data is heavily comprised of uncompressed Audio Video Interleave (AVI) cinematics, high-quality audio files, expansive textures, and complex geometry.

Kratos’ battle against Olympus is defined by its sweeping score and dramatic voice performances. Playing the game without audio or with heavily distorted sound ruins the immersion of the story. 3. Malware and Security Threats

Replaying a Masterpiece: The Myth and Reality of God of War 2 PS2 in 200MB

God of War 2 is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat. With its engaging storyline, intense combat, and stunning graphics, it's no wonder that this game received widespread critical acclaim. The game's epic feel and memorable characters make it a must-play for any gamer. If you haven't played God of War 2 before, do yourself a favor and experience it for yourself.

Let me know, and I can give you tips on getting the best performance!

What are you planning to play on? (PC, Android phone, or an actual PS2?) What are your hardware specifications ?

Textures are compressed or replaced with lower-resolution versions.

The process of creating such a rip was complex and technical. It involved a variety of tools, including for extracting the ISO, Expert 2 for handling specific game archives, and PSS Downsampler to reduce the quality (and size) of the FMV files. The community worked tirelessly to share their findings, creating guides to downsample video files, dummy out duplicate assets (like widescreen files), and rebuild the image into a playable 3.97 GB ISO .

Between 2005 and 2010, internet speeds were not what they are today. In cybercafes across Asia, South America, and Eastern Europe, downloading an 8GB file could take a week. This gave rise to the —groups of crackers who gutted games to the bone to fit on CDs, USB drives, or slow DSL connections.

Many download links redirect users through sketchy ad networks, eventually downloading .exe , .apk , or password-protected .zip files containing malware, trojans, or ransomware.

God of War II relies heavily on its cinematic cutscenes to transition between gameplay areas. When a highly compressed rip deletes these video files, the game engine often looks for data that isn't there. This causes the game to freeze, infinite loading screens, or hard crashes—frequently preventing you from progressing past the first hour of the game. Ruined Story and Atmosphere

    • This could have to do with the pathing policy as well. The default SATP rule is likely going to be using MRU (most recently used) pathing policy for new devices, which only uses one of the available paths. Ideally they would be using Round Robin, which has an IOPs limit setting. That setting is 1000 by default I believe (would need to double check that), meaning that it sends 1000 IOPs down path 1, then 1000 IOPs down path 2, etc. That’s why the pathing policy could be at play.

To your question, having one path down is causing this logging to occur. Yes, it’s total possible if that path that went down is using MRU or RR with an IOPs limit of 1000, that when it goes down you’ll hit that 16 second HB timeout before nmp switches over to the next path.
